Hi Donna, It will depend on the quality of the PDF document. There are lots of ways to create PDF files and not all of them capture the information needed to cleanly export back to Word. Check if the PDF is tagged under File>Properties, this means underlying structure has been preserved making export easier.

I assume you are in Acrobat XI and choosing File>Save as Other>Microsoft Word?
