The Smart Preview workflow seems to be geared to one-human, two-computers.
I had a desktop that I consider to be the "master" and have exported the catalog with smart previews. That export has been copied to 2 different MacBooks. The idea was that the macbook users (me and the misses) could independently add/subtract metadata (the metadata is the primary thing we're worried about) and that Lightroom would be able to sync it back to the master. But I'm not sure how LR will handle importing catalogs from two different sources, especially if there is a conflict.
And unlike the traditional model where you have a "job" and do a lot of work on it initially and then set it aside, we are keywording and captioning images going back 10 years, so I would need to sync the entire catalog -- almost 60k images -- every time.
I suspect LR is not well set up for this... i.e. it will sync one at a time and so if we sync from laptop A on monday and laptop B on tuesday then the A changes may get over-written. Do I have this right? Any suggestions on dealing with a two-person, 3 computer setup?
