What camera do you have that has raw files that don’t work with your PSE11 and what version of Camera Raw do you have with PSE11 right now? Do a Help / About Plug-in / Camera Raw to find out.
The D7100 you mention has been supported since the latter upgrades of PSE10, so PSE11 should work with it out of the box.
If you mean you now have a D5300 like the original subject of this thread is about, then you will need to get PSE12 and upgrade it to at least ACR 8.3 which is the first ACR to handle D5300 files.
If you do have a D5300 or another camera that came out since the summer of 2013 that PSE11 doesn’t support, that you need PSE12 for, then download and run PSE12 for 30 days as a trial, and buy PSE13 when it comes out, so you’ll have another year’s worth of camera updates for what you pay instead of buying PSE12 a few weeks before it’s no longer being updated, anymore.
Of course Adobe is making people pay to get newer camera support. It’s like ordering a meal at a restaurant and then coming back the next day with your receipt and expecting to eat free forever because you paid once. Being hungry and needing to eat again is like getting a new camera that you need a newer version of software for. Adobe has to pay its employees with money they receive from new purchases and their pricing model for PSE is to upgrade it every year.
